About
Welcome to the 'Screenplay' Board! So you want to be a professional screenwriter do you? Or perhaps you're just working on your skills for fun? Either way this is where you want to share your screenwriting ideas. Read and follow the guidelines below before posting or adding a thread. *We love seeing progress but the finished product is something to truly be proud of... if you finish a screenplay and present it on camera, post the link in your thread! Obviously you don't have to do this but we'd love to see your finished work! It may inspire others as well!
Formatting
In a professional setting of course you need proper format! Here? You're letting your creativity flow, OF COURSE you aren't required to use proper formatting here! Plus it's a lot of work to do that in these forums. You can work on your screenplay any way you choose but instead of just using dialogue, perhaps give a bit of stage directions or let us know about the setting (where are we?).
Copyright Infringement
This is pretty simple straightforward. DO NOT infringe on the rights of others. Your stories are your own and your characters are your own. If you'd like to write a fan based screenplay check out the 'Fan Based' sub board located here in the 'Screenplay' board. As per usual give credit where credit is due!
Changing Your Mind - Collaboration
Only the original author should be posting in his or her thread. If you decide to continue your work with someone else you may ask a mod or myself to move a thread for you to the 'Collaboration Projects' board but until we do only the author may continue with the screenplay!
How To...
It's inevitable that there will be editing so here is something to help you out, a story map. You can post the story map first in your thread and use it as a guide that will more than likely be edited a ton too! A good idea would be to post the story map and then separate the acts of your movie or play. Another thing you could do would be to take it one page at a time. You could use write what you want in a document using programs such as Microsoft Word or Open Office and post what you have, a post for each page or even each half of a page.
Guide - Story Map
What is a story map? It's basically breaking down the plot for your movie or play. In the thread you will also find suggestions on the average length of the different parts and learn about the three acts (which part of the story goes into which act?). You can find the link to the 'Story Map' above under the 'How To...' section.
**Read the General Rules sticky located in the 'Site Rules' board before
posting or creating a new thread!
This is a requirement! Also check the 'Site Rules' board frequently for updates and announcements!
